That&#8217;s a middle-of-the-pack number, and it sits oddly next to the &#8220;safest roads&#8221; headline. Both are true. The collisions that do happen here are concentrated where through-traffic concentrates, which means the surface streets feeding the freeways and the commercial hubs carry more risk than the residential grid ever does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two places drive most of that surface-street volume. The first is the area around <strong>South Street and Bloomfield Avenue<\/strong>, anchored by the Los Cerritos Center and the dense retail around it. The second is <strong>Cerritos Auto Square<\/strong>, the sprawling auto mall off the 91 that draws shoppers from across the region. A <a href=\"https:\/\/lbbusinessjournal.com\/real-estate\/shadow-park-community-is-cerritos-luxury-enclave\/\">394-home gated community<\/a> built in the late 1970s, between Shoemaker and Bloomfield, with a 24-hour guarded main gate and a long list of amenities behind it: pool, spa, clubhouse, lighted tennis and basketball courts, and a 1.4-mile greenbelt walking path. The HOA runs about $234 a month. Listings are rare and routinely sell above $1 million, partly because residents tend not to leave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Best for:<\/strong> Buyers who want security, amenities, and a premium address, and who can absorb the price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Encore (Whitney Estates)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A smaller gated community pressed right up against Whitney High School, with streets named for classical composers: Bach, Beethoven, Mozart. It exists, more or less, for one reason: proximity to the top-ranked magnet school in the state. Families targeting Whitney gravitate here for the short walk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Best for:<\/strong> Education-focused families who want to be as close to Whitney as the map allows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Everywhere Else<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Outside the gates, Cerritos is a well-kept, low-density grid of single-family homes, divided loosely by South Street and Bloomfield Avenue but not into anything locals would call distinct neighborhoods. Where you buy matters less for vibe than for which ABC Unified school you&#8217;re zoned into, and in a district this strong, that&#8217;s the calculation most families are actually running. There are no rough pockets to steer around.
