Our 2024 Scholarship Winner

Meet Aleena Palumbo

DK Law is excited to announce our 2024 Scholarship winner, Aleena Palumbo! Aleena is currently a student at Utah State University, and this fall, she plans to enroll in the Doctor of Audiology program at California State University, Sacramento. 

Aleena impressed our scholarship committee with her incredible story of overcoming adversity and pursuing her passions. In February 2024, Aleena was hit head-on by a reckless driver traveling at 55mph. During a brain scan, her doctors discovered she had a rare congenital disease known as Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM). In October, she underwent gamma knife radiation surgery and is currently on the path to remission.  

Despite these challenges, Aleena has demonstrated remarkable resilience and dedication. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Sacramento State with a degree in Deaf Studies and is an accomplished dancer. Her scholarship essay, in which she expressed her desire to study abroad in France to immerse herself in French deaf culture, deeply impressed our scholarship committee.
