Even smaller cities and towns join in on the fun, offering Irish-themed brunches, family-friendly events, marathons, and more.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"dklaw-toc__block align wp-block-dklaw-toc-block\"><div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Drunk Driving Accidents Spike on St. Patrick\u2019s Day<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Fatal crashes involving alcohol increase by\u00a0<strong>16.1%<\/strong>\u00a0during the St. Patrick\u2019s Day holiday period, according to a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lendingtree.com\/insurance\/st-patricks-day-study\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00a0LendingTree study<\/a>. The study analyzed fatal accidents over a 15-year span and found a spike in accidents from March 16 to 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many fatal drunk driving car crashes involved young adults aged 21 to 24. Young drivers are less experienced and more prone to reckless driving behavior like speeding and running red lights. Fatal hit-and-run accidents also increased by 12.5% over the holiday. Pedestrians and bicyclists are at high risk of suffering a serious injury or death in a hit-and-run accident.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>St. Patrick\u2019s Day accidents don\u2019t just extend to people who drive cars. Fatal accidents with motorcycles and trucks surge during the holiday \u2014 14.1% and 9.9%, respectively. Now in its 174th year, the parade is hosted by the United Irish Societies. The theme this year is \u201cUniteSF.\u201d Being a cultural melting pot, the city of San Francisco is celebrating diverse cultures this year through music, art, food, dance, and culture. Alongside traditional Irish music, visitors can enjoy mariachi bands and African drums.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The parade begins at 11:30 a.m. at 2nd and Market Street and ends at Civic Center Plaza. Following the parade, there is a free music festival from 2 to 6 p.m.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hermosa Beach\u00a0<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Downtown Hermosa Beach is awash in green for its 28th annual St. Patrick\u2019s Day Parade.
